The Japanese people are known for their Cherry Blossom Trees. Here is a craft to celebrate Japanese culture. You will need pink tissue paper, scissors, fine wire or heavy white thread, bare twisted branch, terra-cotta flower pot or tin coffee or fruit-juice can, and some sand to fill can. Cut the pink tissue paper in 2 1/2" squares. Fold twice and cut to make circle (sketch a). Pinch blossom in center. Use a 3" length of fine wire or heavy white thread and twist once around pinched section (sketch b). Smooth out blossom (sketch c) and attach to branch with wire (sketch d). Prepare enough blossoms to make the bare branch "bloom." This will probably take 2 or 3 dozen blossoms. Place blossoming branch securely in sand-filled container. If you do not have a terra-cotta pot, enamel a large coffee or fruit-juice can.
